Every August, Milan transforms: the streets empty out, shutters come down one after another, and anyone who stays behind starts to feel like the last one standing in a movie. Well, here’s some good news: this year La Cadrega stays open all through August, from the first day to the last — no summer shutters here.
(A little context: cadrega is Milanese dialect for “chair” — for us, it’s shorthand for gathering around the table.)
Because plenty of people never actually leave Milan in August: those working through the summer, those choosing a different kind of holiday, and travelers discovering the city exactly when it’s at its quietest — and, we’d argue, at its most beautiful. For all of them, our table stays set, with the same hours and the same warm hospitality we’re known for.
The kitchen keeps its spirit but not its menu: we’re making room for summer dishes, like our Paccheri alla Burratina Fresca, alongside the great Milanese classics — cotoletta, ossobuco, and risotto — for anyone who wants the full taste of Milanese tradition, no matter the season.
